Getting Started

Getting started with Entangle is easy. However, there is a few things to do before you install the program.

Before you start

• Do not delete files in Google Drive directly
• Do not upload files in Google Drive directly
• Do not edit files in Google Drive directly
• When in doubt, do not work in Google Drive directly

In order to achieve blazing fast performance and avoid issuing a large number of network calls, Entangle uses a record system to quickly pull information from the cloud. This is in the form of .sync files, which contain data about what files have been changed.

If you edit a file in Google Drive directly, this will desynchronize Entangle, and cause it to fail

Tips for using Entangle

• Try to avoid creating excessive folders. These are time consuming to upload/download to Google Drive
• Upload often, to avoid having to synchronize lots of files at once
• Communicate with your teammates to make sure you don't edit the same file!
• If a file isn't showing up as edited, wait for a few seconds. Entangle is busy processing files in the background.

Data Usage

No information about your files, file system, or other metadata is transmitted, recorded, or stored by Entangle.

The Entangle application on your computer will do the following:

• Access file contents, including file metadata and contents, of locally stored files
• Upload, download, delete, and create files on the local computer and in Google Drive™️
• Create and delete folders on the local computer and in Google Drive™️
• Save project information to a save file in the application support folder

In addition, Entangle will access a remote server in order to provide Google OAuth2 Authentication services. No information about the user is recorded by the remote server. Its only purpose is to provide OAuth2 authorization URLs for the end user to use.
